Bits & bytes Fall 2023 8 Apple Springs into Action: Urgent Security Updates Released for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch A ccording to ZDNET.com (September 25, 2023) , after Apple released new versions of its operating systems on September 18, 2023, the company released an emergency security patch to fix bugs to cover any zero-day vulnerabilities that could leave devices open to malicious software. Zero-day is a security flaw unknown to the developer and has no patch to address the issue. Consequently, attackers exploit these vulnerabilities to infiltrate systems, steal data, and conduct other malicious activities. All iOS users are urged to install the update as soon as possible to protect their systems from any vulnerabilities. Some devices have already updated if the Automatic Updates feature is enabled, but some users might have to update manually. Developers recently found zero-day vulnerabilities that enable individuals to remotely control devices with iOS 17/ iPadOS17 and WatchOS 10.
