Parker, LCSW, President, Hackensack Meridian Carrier Clinic and President of Hackensack Meridian Health Behavioral Health CareTransformation Services/Integrative Medicine Shailaja Shah, MD, Psychiatrist,Associate Medical Director of ElectroConvulsiveTherapy, Hackensack Meridian Carrier Clinic Course Description: This workshop will provide an overview of the history of neu- romodulation in psychiatry, a synopsis of the present uses of neuromodulation and coverage of the new and predicted applica- tions. Discussion will include Electro Convulsive Therapy (ECT), Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and other non-pharmacological somatic therapies. Dr. Shah will describe the strategy and tech- niques of ECT in great detail. Learning Objectives: At the end of this session, attendees will be able to: 1. Discuss the history and evolution of Electro Convulsive Therapy in the treatment of psychiatric disorders. 2. Discuss the history and evolution of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. 3. Demonstrate familiarity with the new types of neuro- modulation, as well as their potential uses for treatment of psychiatric diseases. She will speak of the direction mental health and substance use treat- ment will take in New Jersey, including what may be expected of the 1115 waiver and how the state will be implementing a 9-8-8 Crisis Response System that is required by federal law by July 2022. The presentation will touch on value based purchasing, recovery services, integrated care and other areas the Division may be moving toward. Learning Objectives: At the end of this session, attendees will be able to: 1. Describe components in place and needed for New Jersey’s 9-8-8 Crisis Response System. 2. Identify trends that are shaping the future of New Jersey’s behavioral health system of care. 3. Identify new programs/services that are planned or being implemented in New Jersey.
