Live Interactive Workshops 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Workshop E Keys for Success in Behavioral Health Managed Care Contracting David Gregory, Principal and Healthcare Industry Leader Baker Tilly Course Description: This session will provide an overview of the managed care prin- ciples and the state of the new managed care environment, and will focus on understanding your agency’s “risk readiness” post- COVID. The speaker will present a holistic approach, addressing performance measures, and discussing implications. Experience with providers and payers will be shared providing guidance and exploring the basic tools required for succeeding in the managed care environment. Behavioral health providers offer knowledge and experience and there is opportunity to improve care to the populations they serve through collaboration with payers in addressing the goals of managed care. Focusing on outcomes through performance measurement (i.e., you can’t improve what you can’t measure) is an important key to success. Understanding your population is a starting point through data collection: baseline data must be compared to benchmarks; data must be actionable and frequently updated.“Risk readiness” involves evaluating of organizational culture, leadership and structure, as well as provider and client engagement, care coordination infrastructure, IT infrastructure, reporting and analytic capabilities. Collaborations with payers and integrating payer data enhance success in improving outcomes. Real life payer and provider coordination experiences illustrate successful multi-faced approaches. Learning Objectives: At the end of this session, attendees will be able to: 1. Define the principles and goals of managed care in the cur - rent managed care environment 2. Identify performance measures and benchmarks appropriate to their discipline 3.
