Registration Brochure 15 SESSION 2.1 . .................................................................... 2:30 PM - 3:45 PM Number and Type of Credits: General Behavioral Health: Where We Are and Where We Are Going, Course #6435 is approved by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB). Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program to be offered by the New Jersey Association of Mental Health and Addiction Agencies (NJAMHAA) as an individual course. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE course approval period: 8/12/2025 - 8/12/2027. Social workers completing this course will receive 1.25 general continuing education credit. This course is approved by the NJ Association of Mental Health and Addiction Agencies (NJAMHAA), as a NAADAC Approved Education Provider, for educational credits. NAADAC Provider #87719, NJAMHAA is responsible for all aspects of the programming. COURSE DESCRIPTION: Federal funding and policy changes—enacted through legislation, regulation, guidance, or executive order—are significantly affecting Medicaid, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), housing, behavioral health services, and other essential safety net programs that support vulnerable populations across New Jersey. In this session, leadership from the New Jersey Department of Human Services and the Department of Children and Families will join Jennifer Mathis of the Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law to share up-to-date insights on these changes. The discussion will highlight the fiscal, administrative, and operational impacts of federal policy, as well as the effects on the populations served. Jennifer Mathis will offer a national perspective, detailing the Bazelon Center’s current priorities and expectations for federal-level developments. State leaders will outline how New Jersey is responding to these evolving challenges, including updates on new and expanded initiatives, and the ongoing development of New Jersey’s 988 crisis response system. Learning Objectives: At the end of this session, attendees will be able to: 1. List several impacts that recent federal policy changes are having on safety net programs in New Jersey. 2. Identify new initiatives being implemented by the Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services and/or the Children’s System of Care. 3. D escribe the current structure and active components of New Jersey’s 988 crisis continuum. 4. Objective with national focus: Describe strategies to promote compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Olmstead decision, including in light of new Medicaid policies.
