Diverse Faces Many Lives: New Jerseyans Rely on Mental Health and Substance Use Services to Thrive

Thanks to Maryville Addiction Treatment Center, I am in recovery, I have my family back and I’m enjoying a meaningful career. Funding Needed to Make More Successes Such as Isabella’s Possible Increase all mental healthcare and substance use treatment rates to be competitive so children and adults can readily access the services they need. 6 Isabella has been fighting the disease of alcoholism for more than 10 years. Before the disease overtook her life, she had a good career in the casino industry, and was married with two children. At the age of 40, she went back to school to study nursing. It was a difficult period since Isabella was also raising a family and working full-time. Despite this, she completed her nursing program, passed her state boards, and became a licensed practical nurse. Isabella’s addiction continued causing problems in her life; and three years ago, she lost everything, including her family and her home. It was then she reached out to Maryville Addiction Treatment Center for help. With inpatient treatment and a specific aftercare plan, Isabella was able to begin a new chapter. More recently, Isabella relapsed after the death of her father. Since she had remained connected to Maryville through their Alumni Services program, Isabella immediately felt comfortable reaching out for help and is already back on the road to recovery. ISABELLA
