28 Breaking Barriers in Behavioral Health Care Integrated Healthcare Council The Integrated Healthcare Council (IHC) consists of health maintenance organizations (HMOs), whose representatives meet regularly with providers and staff from the New Jersey Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services (DMAHS), which oversees the contracts with the HMOs. The IHC also includes businesses that offer a variety of products and services (e.g., furniture, insurance, diagnostic testing) that help enhance providers’ effectiveness and efficiency. While they meet formally only on an ad hoc basis, IHC members actively participate in NJAMHAA conferences and practice groups, and receive and share information on pertinent issues.
