NJAMHAA News - October 2021
October 2021 10 “Thanks to the IT Project training, our staff is more aware of e-mails and links that should not be opened. Our staff is more savvy,” added Ewell from Triple C Housing. Tremendous Overall Value in all Situations “I can’t say enough about the IT Project. They are really a godsend,” said Mary Jo Buchanan, LCSW, MPA, Chief Executive Officer, Ocean Partnership for Children, Inc. (OPC), and NJAMHAA Board Secretary. “The IT Project taught us and lifted us up to a whole new position. We can now think critically about how to move forward with technology.” “Before we got involved with the IT Project, our Human Resources director also wore the hat for technology. This was an incredible lift. So, we decided to make technology under organizational development. AndrewMacMath, our Director of Organizational Development and Technology, knewwe needed support, so we met with June and Ron. Thom Price has been our primary contact. He came to our office regularly before the pandemic and addressed major IT functions,” Buchanan said. “Sean is just incredible and very patient,” Buchanan stated, referring to Sean Doris, who operates NJAMHAA’s IT Help Desk. “When I had trouble, he stayed with me until the problemwas resolved—after hours when needed. He demonstrates great tenacity and provides excellent customer service,” Buchanan added. Before the pandemic started, MacMath worked with the IT Project to deploy laptops needed for the OPC staff to work remotely, which was necessary because the agency did not have enough space for its growing staff. “What makes the IT Project unique is that they know nonprofits,” MacMath said. “I cannot imagine if we had to work with a regular IT agency during the pandemic. You have to understand the populations we work with and the gravity of the situation. If you can’t get the system set, you can’t serve people,” he added, citing the importance of being able to quickly find documents on a server in order to provide treatment efficiently and effectively. The IT Project offers many more services, which are described on page 37. For more information, contact Gordon at rgordon@ njamhaa.org or Noto at jnoto@njamhaa.org .
