30 July 2023 I saw joining Trinitas as an opportunity to effect change in a large system to ensure the same access for marginalized communities, and address racial disparities in health and mental health, as well as economic inequality. Their ideas are brought to an influential table. I feel compelled to offer this. I’m very grateful and humbled to be in this position and to work with very committed and wise people who have a lot of experience and passion. Being part of a leadership group at Trinitas and RWJBH is an amazing opportunity to learn from each other and move forward. We’re in a time of many changes happening so quickly. There are many opportunities and challenges. As leaders, we acknowledge that we don’t have all the answers. I’m very excited to be part of the group of people who will be able to identify the vision and strategies to bring us into the next era in health care. NJAMHAANews: What program growth and/or other changes do you envision for Trinitas’ behavioral healthcare and I/DD services? Lisa Dressner: I’m looking forward to the expansion of services for the I/DD community. That’s one big priority for which we have to meet critical needs in the community and statewide. I’malso focusingmore on opportunities to provide integrated care. We have a SAMHSA (Substance Abuse andMental Health Services Administration)-funded program for primary care embedded in our behavioral healthcare program. This is an important focus. Care is challenging when it’s compartmentalized. And, we still need to address stigma. It continues to be a struggle for people with mental health issues to seek and access care.
