Describe New Jersey’s CIT model and its impact on safety, stigma reduction, and access to behavioral health care. 2. Describe how interdisciplinary collaboration among law enforcement, behavioral health providers, individuals with lived experience, and community partners strengthens crisis response. 3. Define the goals and core components of New Jersey’s advanced CIT trainings, including Virtual Reality Training, Dispatcher Training, and emerging curricula addressing youth crises, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and co-response models. TARGET AUDIENCE: Social Workers, Management, and First Responders AUDIENCE TARGET LEVELS: Beginner, Intermediate COURSE DESCRIPTION: New Jersey’s Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Center of Excellence oversees the statewide implementation and advancement of the CIT model, bringing together law enforcement, mental health providers, and community partners to improve safety, reduce stigma and increase access to care. This session will provide an overview of CIT in NJ, including the program’s impact, structure and outcomes, while highlighting new and emerging advanced CIT trainings. Presenters will explore specialized training tracks for veterans, 9-1-1 dispatchers, co-response partnerships, and other first responder groups, as well as upcoming initiatives focused on working with specialized populations in crisis, such as youth and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Participants will gain insight into how statewide collaboration, evidence-informed training and cross-system partnerships are shaping the future of crisis response in New Jersey and beyond.
