NJAMHAA Annual Report FY 2025 25 CHAIR: Teri Gilroy Senior Data Analyst Acenda Integrated Health The Information Technology Professional Advisory Committee (IT PAC) plays an integral role in the IT Project’s advocacy efforts on behalf of provider organizations; assists providers with collecting, processing, integrating and interpreting data through automation; shares technical expertise and insights on trends and the management of outcome, performance and financial data; and investigates the application of new technologies to increase efficiency, enhance revenue, reduce costs and improve quality of services. Information Technology Professional Advisory Committee Guest presenters at the IT PAC’s quarterly meetings this year were: William Ahrens from InforMD , who presented on this company’s core services and how they can help with data analytics and AI Renu Tadepalli , Barbara Gurskey, and Melanie Matos from the New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII), who presented on the expansion of the Substance Use Disorder Promoting Interoperability Program into the behavioral health realm and shared insights on the importance of interoperability Dr. Jorge R. Petit , Chief Clinical Advisor, Cantata Health Solutions, who presented strategies for using technology to advance behavioral health care The Quality Assurance and Compliance Committee continues to maintain steady engagement, underscoring a strong commitment to addressing the evolving challenges in behavioral health care. The quarterly meetings provide a valuable platform for internal and external experts to share timely insights on regulatory, compliance and quality matters. In FY2025, topics included the New Jersey Data Privacy Law; the New Jersey Innovation Institute’s Behavioral Health Promoting Interoperability Program; accomplishments and updates related to the Health Insurance Portability and Quality Assurance and Compliance Committee CO-CHAIRS: Karen Acker Chief Operating Officer West Bergen Mental Healthcare Accountability Act (HIPAA); key takeaways from the U.S Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Security Conference; and highlights from Verizon’s 2024 Data Breach Investigations Report . The group also reviewed the HHS Office for Civil Rights’ “Dear Colleague” letter on nondiscrimination in artificial intelligence (AI) use, as well as ongoing issues such as cybersecurity, industry-wide HIPAA breaches, 42 CFR Part 2 revisions, and Medicaid/ Medicare policy changes. Looking ahead, the committee will continue focusing on emerging priorities, such as the practical and ethical use of AI in health care, behavioral health integration and data interoperability. Additional areas of interest include telehealth regulation; updates from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and on Medicaid managed care; compliance with value-based care models; and evolving standards for patient consent and digital engagement. The group remains committed to supporting members with relevant, practical knowledge to navigate today’s complex regulatory landscape.
