28 75 th Anniversary T he Life Sciences and Innovation Council (LSIC) includes representatives from pharmaceutical and life sciences companies and their trade associations. It is also a group that meets regularly. Providers and representatives from the Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services and Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services share information and collaborate on initiatives to increase access to medications and all types of healthcare services. The FY2026 LSIC meetings have continued to attract large groups by hosting presentations and panel discussions on a range of important topics, which have included: Moving Forward in Access to Behavioral Health Care in the Face of Federal Policy and Funding Changes with Chrissy Buteas, MPA, President and CEO, HealthCare Institute of New Jersey (HINJ), Debbie Hart, MS, CAE, APR, President and CEO, BioNJ, and Kyle Sullender, MPP, Director of Government and External Relations, HINJ; an overview and insights on the current State Administration by Mary Kay Roberts; a summary of BioNJ’s white paper, Life Sciences in New Jersey: Prescription for Sustained Leadership , by Ian McLaughlin, PhD, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and Policy, BioNJ; and President Donald J. Trump’s Proposed Tariffs and Most Favored Nation Policy and their Impact on Patients and Providers by Dr. McLaughlin and Steve Issenman, Senior Vice President, Federal and External Affairs, HINJ. T he Technology Council is comprised of businesses that offer tools and assistance with cybersecurity; innovative software, including artificial/augmented intelligence that enables clinicians to ensure compliance, work more efficiently, increase the quality of services and, therefore, achieve positive health outcomes; electronic health record (EHR) systems; and telecommunications. Technology Council members are offered the option of conducting educational webinars on issues related to technology that impact all agencies and demonstrations on their particular tools. NJAMHAA’s partnerships with technology companies and the state also help ensure providers’ awareness of technology-funding opportunities and, therefore, the ability to pursue them.
