BARRETT YOUNGWAS ELECTED to the NJMHI Board in FY2023 and to the role of Vice Chair in FY2025, and he joined the NJAMHAA Board in FY2025. Barrett grew up at The Mission, as his mother, former NJAMHAA and NJMHI Board Member Mary Gay Abbott-Young, brought him there since he was a baby. Barrett’s first official role was Emergency Shelter Associate and he later served as Chief Operating Officer for eight years before being promoted to CEO. Barrett is also Chair of the Halfway House Association of New Jersey and serves onDivision of Mental Health “My participation on the NJMHI Board reinforces the value I perceive in gaining input from diverse populations.
