Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program to be offered by the New Jersey Association of Mental Health and Addiction Agencies (NJAMHAA) as an individual course. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE course approval period: 8/14/2025 - 8/14/2027. COURSE DESCRIPTION: Body bullying, also known as body shaming or appearance-related bullying, can have severe and long-lasting effects on a child’s mental and physical health, self-esteem, and overall well-being. Studies reveal that 60% of children report experiencing body bullying, which increases the risk of depression, anxiety, and disordered eating. This session provides cutting-edge, neuroscience-backed strategies to create meaningful change in how children view and care for their bodies. Participants will learn how to integrate safe, inclusive, and empowering body image and nutrition education into their practice—helping children become the CEO of their brain and body. The “Strong Shift” approach supports students in respecting their bodies, overcoming obstacles, nourishing rather than restricting, and cultivating a growth mindset. Identify three psychological and three physical impacts experienced by a child who is bullied and feels unsafe in their body. 2. Describe the key skills needed to navigate complex conversations around food and body image in a supportive, sensitive, and empowering way, including examples of effective and ineffective language. 3. List the four core habits that promote improved energy, focus, mood, and productivity in children and adolescents.
