In the past year, the HMO Council has facilitated many discussions and hosted numerous presentations to help providers prepare for the imminent carve-in. In September, Briana Duffy, Market President for Carelon Behavioral Health, presented on Preparing for a Managed Integrated System of Care and an updated, extensive listing of managed care organizations’ contact information was shared. Universal credentialing was, and continues to be, a priority issue. NJAMHAA has taken advantage of the opportunity the HMO Council provides to discuss this topic with the managed care organizations, as well as facility licensing, standardized applications, and retroactive authorization for partial care, among other items. These discussions have helped to move NJAMHAA’s advocacy on important issues forward with several requested policies already accepted by the Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services (DMAHS), including Medicaid rates as an initial floor and requiring contracting with “any willing qualified provider”, among others. In March, the HMO Council was proud to host Teresa Lampl, LISW-S, CEO, The Ohio Council of Behavioral Health & Family Services Providers, to present on Ohio’s Path to Centralized Credentialing and Enrollment: Challenges, Successes and Lessons Learned . Both the Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare (CAQH), one of two entities DMAHS has proposed that all providers will be mandated to apply to under the carve-in, and Shatterproof’s Treatment Atlas team will be presenting at the June 2024 meeting.
