31 NJAMHAA Annual Report FY 2024 NJAMHAA’s Fall Conference 2023 Behavioral Health in Motion In FY2024, NJAMHAA hosted three in-person conferences, one virtual conference and six webinars. NJAMHAA and the New Jersey Association of Integrated Case Management (NJAICM) hosted a virtual ICMS conference, Celebrating Case Manager Heroes , in November. This inspiring event began with a presentation, How Would We Manage without Case Managers? , by Marie Verna, MPAP, President, Dominion Behavioral Health Policy, LLC, who also moderated an enlightening panel discussion with peers and consumers sharing their lived experience and success in recovery. As indicated by the conference theme, the event also featured presentation of ICMS Case Manager Awards. The in-person Fall Conference, Behavioral Health in Motion , featured an extremely informative and insightful keynote presentation, The Future of Behavioral Health: Accountability, Incentives and Workforce , by Richard G. Frank, PhD, Senior Fellow - Economic Studies and Director, Brookings Schaeffer Initiative on Health Policy, The Brookings Institution. After sharing data about the increasing prevalence of mental illnesses and the declining workforce, Dr. Frank shared recommendations for addressing the shortage and increasing access. For the plenary session, leaders from the New Jersey Department of Human Services (DHS) and Department of Children and Families (DCF) shared their visions and efforts to move New Jersey’s behavioral health system forward. The presenters were Jennifer Langer Jacobs, MPC, Assistant Commissioner, Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services (DMAHS), DHS; Mollie Greene, MA, CADC, Assistant Commissioner, Children’s System of Care, DCF; Valerie Mielke, MSW, Assistant Commissioner, Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), DHS; and Katherine L. Stoehr, MPA, First Deputy Commissioner Operations, DCF.
