33 NJAMHAA Annual Report FY 2024 The Information Technology (IT) Project’s annual conference Beyond Boundaries, Exploring IT Opportunities , in May featured Dennis Morrison, PhD, Owner, Morrison Consulting, as the keynote presenter. He shared his insights into disruptive innovations and emphasized that artificial intelligence (AI) will not replace any individual or take away any jobs; however, those who embrace and use AI are much more likely to retain their positions and secure new career opportunities. Additional insights about the value of AI in health care, along with associated risks, were presented during the plenary session, Navigating the Nexus: Understanding AI Opportunities and Cybersecurity Threats in Health Care . In addition, both NJAMHAA and the IT Project hosted a variety of webinars. Topics were: Mitigating Organizational Anxiety in Effectively Preparing for Managed Care Building School-Provider Partnerships and Maximizing Internships The Bridge Workshop: Enhancing the Relationship between Peers and Providers Walking the Tightrope: Behavioral Health Employers and Cannabis In addition, the IT Project continued the Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services’ (DMHAS’) training series of virtual workshops and demonstrations, as DMHAS is focused on having agencies utilize software for client recovery and intervention. The IT Project hosted several webinars, including from CHESS Health and GoMo Health, to address this need. The IT Project also hosted a webinar on the changes to New Jersey’s Data Privacy Rules. Another demonstration was held on May 29th by Cantata Health Solutions. Technical Assistance Throughout the year, the IT Project provides technical assistance to strengthen cybersecurity, implement electronic health record systems, and much more to enhance providers’ efficiency in serving individuals and ensure safety of data. Highlights of the IT Project’s initiatives and achievements throughout the year begin on page 34 . Technical assistance provided by NJAMHAA’s advocacy and member services staff includes answering questions about policies, licensing, legislation, regulations, insurance and many other topics. For any information that NJAMHAA does not have readily available, the staff contacts individuals in the appropriate state or federal departments; searches for additional resources to obtain answers; and, when needed, arranges for meetings with state staff, federal policymakers, national trade associations or others to address questions and concerns.
